Postgraduate Research at the School of Communications, Dublin City University
The School of Communications at Dublin City University in Ireland is seeking applications for funded postgraduate research scholarships starting in Autumn 2011.
The scholarships will fund fulltime fees and a monthly stipend. The scholarships will typically run for three to four years, conditional on recipients making satisfactory progress with their studies.
Potential candidates should submit two documents:
1. A short (2000 words or less) research proposal outlining: the subject area the candidate is interested in working on; a rationale for conducting research in that area and a brief description of the proposed methodology.
2. A detailed CV, focusing previous academic qualifications, teaching experience (if any) and any relevant industrial experience.
The School is particularly (though not exclusively) interested in proposals relating to the following areas:
- Media Audiences and Consumption
- Public relations
- The History and Practice of Irish Journalism
- Social Media
- Online Journalism
- Digital Games
- Contemporary Irish Journalism Cultures
Production-based research applications will also be considered.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 21 October 2012. Potential candidates should be available for interview in DCU during the week starting Monday, 24October. It is envisaged that candidates will formally register in the first week of November 2011.
