Virtual Conference
14 May - 8 June 2012
Entering its second year, the 2012 virtual conference is an innovative way to explore and experience the delivery of research, changing the way we see and provide feedback on scholarly work. While retaining the most popular and useful formats from last year, this year's conference incorporates some exciting changes to make the online experience as rich and rewarding as possible:
28 Hours of Sessions Streamed Live
For those who are not able to attend in Phoenix, there will also be 28 hours of live streaming of sessions to the web. The schedule of these sessions will be available on the ICA website in early March 2012 and will include the main highlights of the conference – such as the opening/closing plenaries—as well as a sampling of other sessions including the new extended sessions. The interactive aspect of conference is not forgotten in the Virtual Conference. Participants in Phoenix and around the world will be invited to join the chat sessions and converse with colleagues during the live streaming.
Fifty Featured Academic Papers
New this year, each division has selected two papers for the online session. In some cases, division and interest group planners selected the papers because the subject matter lent itself well to online presentation; in others, they are the top papers in the group. These papers will be posted to the Virtual Conference site and available to download for all virtual conference and regular conference participants in addition to their “in-person” presentation at the conference in Phoenix. A forum for discussion follows each paper in which the paper’s respondent, author, and any other interested participants engage in an online discussion through message postings over the duration of the virtual conference.
Registering for the Virtual Conference
All "on-the-ground" attendees in Phoenix will have free access to the virtual conference. Those who are unable to make it can register online. All registrants to the virtual and “on-the-ground” conference in Phoenix will be given a special web link and access code for the virtual conference. Participants are encouraged to sign in frequently and respond/interact to the questions and comments made by those who participate and attend the virtual conference.
