Currently a visiting professor at the School of Journalism and Department of Communication and Culture at Indiana University, Mark Deuze worked as journalist for seven years in The Netherlands and South Africa. He earned his Ph.D. in 2002 from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; during the 2002-2003 academic year, he was a visiting Fulbright scholar at the University of Southern California. He is a member of IAMCR, AEJMC and ICA, and has published in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Journalism Studies, Journalism, Journalism Educator, Journal of Mass Media Ethics, Media Culture & Society, New Media & Society, Asia Pacific Media Educator, Gazette, Ecquid Novi and Australian Journalism Review.
