FSD Vice-Chair Nominations
Steiner, Hegde oversee FSD nominations
Former FSD Chair Linda Steiner (Rutgers U), and FSD member Radha Hegde (New York U) have agreed to serve as the 2003 FSD Nominations Committee, whose task it is to identify candidates to run for the FSD Vice Chair position.

Any active member in ICA (i.e., one whose dues are current) is eligible to run for this office, according to ICA governing Bylaws. FSD Bylaws' section on "Elections" states that the division strives to use the election process to "develop leadership skills and opportunities for feminist scholars. . ." Therefore, nominations should be from (or for) persons who identify themselves as "feminist scholars" and have familiarity with the division's work.

In addition, FSD has traditionally encouraged leadership from scholars based outside the United States and from varied national backgrounds and scholarly interests.

The Vice Chair oversees the division's research submission and review process, and organizes sessions at the conference. Candidates should be prepared to make a four-year commitment - two as Vice Chair, and two as Chair of the division. ICA standardized the terms of office a few years ago to a length of two years, with automatic succession of Vice Chair-to-Chair. The Chair presides over the work of the division, and represents the division on the ICA Board. These officers are expected to attend all annual meetings in this four-year timeframe, with travel expenses supported by institutional or personal funds.

Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by another person. Please send nominations by January 1, 2003, to:
