Welcome to the FSD Fall 2004 Newsletter!
Rosa Leslie Mikeal, Newsletter Production Editor

Winter is just around the corner for those of us in northern climes, and it's the perfect time to settle in for some cosy reading with FSD. Our 7th issue of the Feminist Scholarship Division newsletter, "Feminist Con/Text", brings some important thoughts on feminist scholarship today. Take a look around!

With this issue, we welcome our new Newsletter Editor, Claire Wardle of Cardiff University in the UK. Her theme for this issue is a crucial one: keeping feminist scholarship relevant, especially in the classroom. Dr Wardle's article on the theme brings up ideas important to all communication scholars. In the main article on the topic, a range of scholars both newer and well experienced in the field provide insights, thoughts, and concerns about feminist scholarship in the classroom, the academy, and life in general. Your devoted production editor also offers a few ideas of specific ways we can help train new feminist scholars in communication.

We also have a review of Marjan de Bruin and Karen Ross' new book, Gender and Newsroom Cultures, and a (long!) list of books and articles published by FSD scholars in 2003 and 2004.

As always, your comments and questions are welcome. We are also seeking a graduate student to write the next instalment of our now-regular Featured Graduate Student article, so if you are interested, please contact the Newsletter Editor Claire Wardle.

Enjoy!

If you have any questions or comments about the newsletter website, please feel free to contact Rosa Leslie Mikeal.
