The Department of Communication Studies at Marquette
University invites applications for a tenure track
assistant professor beginning August 15, 2009 with a
teaching and research concentration in organizational
communication. Candidates should possess either a
qualitative or a quantitative perspective utilizing
interpretive, rhetorical, or empirical approaches to
organizational research and teaching. The ideal
candidate will have some expertise in one or more of
the following areas: health communication, conflict and
communication, or global communication within an
organizational setting. In addition, the candidate will
teach selected classes in the new corporate
communication major within the Diederich College of
Communication.
The J. William and Mary Diederich College of
Communication includes departments of journalism,
advertising/public relations, communication studies,
and performing arts, as well as broadcast and
electronic communication. A $28 million gift from the
Diederichs has made possible renovation of Johnston
Hall, the college's home; up-to-date laboratory and
studio technology; and generous support for faculty
development and travel. Marquette is an urban
Catholic, Jesuit university dedicated to principles of
excellence, leadership, faith, and service.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach and
conduct research within the college. The candidate will
have the opportunity to teach in the undergraduate and
graduate programs. In addition to teaching, the
candidate will be responsible for advising
undergraduate and/or graduate students, serving on
college and university committees, and establishing a
research agenda. Requires earned doctorate or a
terminal degree; demonstrated potential for teaching
excellence and high quality research.
Preferred: Ph.D. in communication
with specialty in one or more of the following areas:
health communication, conflict and communication, or
global communication within organization!

The Department of Communication at Purdue University

Organizational Communication. Tenure

Ph.D. in communication or related discipline required.
We are interested in applicants who have an active
empirical research program. We are open to a variety of
theoretical and methodological approaches but are
especially interested in applicants who use traditional
social scientific approaches to the study of
organizations.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach at
the undergraduate and graduate levels and advise
graduate students at the M.A. and Ph.D. levels.
