Handbooks of Communication

The International Communication Association and Routledge are copublishing a series of scholarly handbooks that represent the interests of ICA members and help to further the association’s goals of promoting theory and research in the communication discipline.

These handbooks will serve as benchmark summaries of current communication scholarship and will set the agenda for future theory and research in the communication discipline. The series will include handbooks that consider content areas in communication research, methodological approaches to communication research, and theoretical lenses for scholarship in communication. These handbooks, then, will attempt to cross subdisciplinary boundaries in communication by considering the conceptual, theoretical, and methodological dimensions that underlie communication scholarship across contexts.

Robert T. Craig, professor of communication at the University of Colorado at Boulder, will serve as the series editor for the handbooks, with responsibility for identifying appropriate projects and volume editors, initiating projects with the volume editors, and coordinating with ICA and Routledge. Professor Craig is currently working with scholars across a wide spectrum of the communication discipline to identify possible projects and editors for the series. The first volumes in the series are publishing in 2008.
