Communication Theory publishes research articles, theoretical
essays, and reviews on topics of broad theoretical interest from across
the range of communication studies. Essays, regardless of topic or methodological
approach, must make a significant contribution to communication theory.
Data-based papers are appropriate only insofar as they advance new theoretical
developments in communication. Communication Theory recognizes that
approaches to theory development and explication are diverse. No single
approach or set of approaches is privileged.
Manuscript Submission. Authors should submit their manuscripts through ICA’s
electronic submission process at
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/comth.
The manuscript document should provide complete contact information
(address, telephone, FAX, and email) and brief biographical summaries
(full name, highest earned academic degree, institution granting that degree,
and present academic or professional title) on the title page for each author. Manuscripts must be limited to 30 pages, double spaced, in length.
Manuscripts must conform to the specifications of the Publication Manual
of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, and authors should
verify that the reference list is complete and in appropriate form.
Additional guidelines for manuscript preparation may be found in recent
issues of the journal.
Communication Theory staff will process manuscripts in a
prompt and professional fashion. In order to expedite reviews and ensure
quality in the review process, some manuscripts will be forwarded to an
associate editor who will serve as the action editor.
