CAT division chair S. Shyam Sundar, distinguished professor of communications and codirector of the Media Effects Research Laboratory at Penn State University, has received a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the amount of $ 432,313 for his project entitled "Interface Interactivity and User Engagement: A Communications Perspective" (http://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward.do?AwardNumber=0916944).
James B. Weaver, III (Ph.D., Indiana University; MPH, Emory University), a Health Communication Specialist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, received the "Outstanding Health Marketing Scientist of the Year Award." Weaver was honored in a September 2009 awards ceremony. Weaver has also, along with Stephanie Sargent Weaver (PhD, U. of Alabama; MPH, Emory University) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, recently published three papers.
