We invite those of you whose papers or posters were accepted for the #ica20 conference in Gold Coast to consider applying for a travel grant or conference registration waiver if you meet the criteria.
(1) Larry Gross travel grant ($1000 – exact amount depends on number of successful applications). Any presenter who has demonstrated scholarly merit and who is *not* receiving travel funding from their department or any other sources of outside funding is eligible. Preference will be given to presenters resident in areas of the world that are under-represented at ICA, but this does not preclude self-nominations from presenters in Tier A countries (see https://www.icahdq.org/page/tiers).
(2) LGBTQ Studies travel grant (2 X $500). This grant is open to LGBTQ Studies session presenters who have demonstrated financial need, with preference for student presenters and/or scholars resident in non-Tier A countries (i.e. Tier B or Tier C – see https://www.icahdq.org/page/tiers).
(3) Conference registration waiver – student. This award provides a waiver of the conference registration fee for a presenter who is a student. See here for the monetary value of the award: https://www.icahdq.org/page/2020ConfPrices
(4) Conference registration waiver – non-Tier A scholar. This award provides a waiver of the conference registration fee for a presenter who is a scholar resident in a non-Tier A country (see https://www.icahdq.org/page/tiers). See here for the monetary value of the award:https://www.icahdq.org/page/2020ConfPrices
To apply, please write a short statement (400 words or less) explaining (i) which award(s) you are applying for (you may apply for all that you are eligible for); (ii) how you are eligible; and (iii) how travel support would help you in your academic pursuits. Email your statement to the organizer of the LGBTQ Studies Awards and Nominations Committee:
Shinsuke Eguchi - firstname.lastname@example.org.
To be eligible for consideration, you must be an active member of the LGBTQ Studies interest group. The deadline for your application to us is ** Sunday, February 23, 9pm U.S. Pacific Standard Time **.
Also, (i) ICA presenters from developing/transitional countries and (ii) student presenters from any country can apply for the ICA-wide travel grants at http://www.icahdq.org/page/TravelGrant. The ICA travel grants require you to be a member of ICA. These applications are due Friday, March 1.
All the best!
