Every donation aids ICA in achieving our mission to advance the scholarly study of communication by encouraging and facilitating excellence in academic research worldwide. Your contribution is an investment in the future of communication research and helps build a solid foundation for future scholars. The fund was renamed in 2020 in honor of ICA’s Executive Director from 2000 to 2016, Michael L. Haley, who passed away early that year. Michael loved to travel the world on behalf of ICA, and was dedicated to the idea that everyone who wanted to come to ICA should be able to attend.
Michael L. Haley Travel Fund
ICA travel grants are awarded based on need. In order to qualify for a grant, one must be either a student; currently residing in a developing country or one with a transitional economy (identified by the United Nations as Tier B and C countries); economically disadvantaged as a result of systemic access issues, as a member of an ethnic, religious, or linguistic minority (a group that is numerically non-dominant) or an otherwise equity-seeking group in your country of residence (regardless of tier); or undergoing a period of financial hardship that must be explained in the application.
Your generosity in donating to the Michael L. Haley Travel Fund will help build a solid foundation for student scholars and help to balance access inequities for disadvantaged potential attendees.
