Narratives have been attracting the interest of scholars in various fields of communication. While much research effort has been dedicated to short-term effects, substantially less is known about long-term effects of narrative forms of communication. This preconference will shed light on this understudied aspect and (1) discuss theoretical approaches to long-term effects of narrative communication, (2) reflect on capabilities of narratives to involve audiences (3) present current empirical research on long-term effects.
