Over the span of several years, ICA has taken several steps towards becoming a more environmentally conscientious organization. A few examples include transitioning our journal exclusively to online access, omitting a large print program and preference being given to conference destinations that have active and ongoing sustainability programs and policies. Carbon Offset for ICA24

ICA has made a significant donation to a local reforesting nonprofit in Queensland, Reforest.au through our tour partner, Kiff+Culture. Using Reforest is similar to buying an offset in some ways, but is actually a “much more tangible and powerful way to drive real change.” Our donation will plant nearly 500 trees in their South-East Queensland reforestation project, Cooroy Mountain Wildlife Corridor. Those 500 trees will remove over 65 tonnes of CO2, which will be a great contribution towards positive local impact on climate and nature for this event. If you would like to augment ICA’s donation by doing your own donation, you can use their simple travel CO2 calculator to buy additional trees yourself to offset your personal travel emissions.
